Artist Bio

Kerrie Reeves has a diverse background, born in Dorset in 1982, brought up on a council estate by bohemian parents and was a single mother at the age of 18. Kerrie found entrepreneurial ways in which to be creative and earn a living, leaving behind her dreams of being a full-time artist. With no formal training, she was self-taught in everything she did including, makeup artistry and interior design. As a mature student, Kerrie completed a BA (Hons) Degree in Fashion Image Communication at the Arts University Bournemouth and exhibited a fashion wellbeing publication at London Graduate Fashion Week. After a short stint in fashion marketing and PR, Kerrie went on to peruse a career as a fashion lecturer where she was able to explore fine art and textiles and accidentally found the unique processes that she uses in her artwork today. “Looking back, my path has been linear as to where I am today, I didn’t realise it at the time but now I see clearly how all the disciplines I have practised and life experiences have merged as one”

Primarily Kerrie works with light-reflecting fabrics and highly pigmented dyes creating contemporary sculptural textile pieces. She reinterprets movement and change in the world stating that she finds peace in doing so, “Our natural world and evolution are changing at such a fast pace, my work represents slowing down and interpreting the calm amongst the chaos.”
